The Macherei Berlin-Kreuzberg is a modern building complex consisting of three residential-commercial buildings, located on the border between the two districts: Berlin-Mitte and Berlin-Kreuzberg.
The pearl of the Macherei quarters, the M40 (also called “Das Holzcarré”) is built using the innovative timber-hybrid CREE System. The eight-storey building, located near Potsdamer Platz, combines office-, event-, local food supply-, and retail spaces on an area of 27,800 m².
Designed by a renowned Berlin architectural office ROBERTNEUN, M40 highlights human-centered approach in creating healthy working landscapes: flexibly adaptable areas which can be tailored to any need, floor-to-ceiling windows surrounding the façade, optimal lighting and room climate conditions are only a few of the benefits which M40 offers to its tenants. The natural “feel” is supported by the exposed timber structure and an abundance of outdoor terraces and green inner courtyards.
The Macherei Berlin-Kreuzberg M40 is a perfect example of how the use of the modular construction solution breaks the patterns of a conventional working space planning and helps emphasize the importance of an excellent indoor climate for the well-being of its tenants.
