Who we are
Building the world of tomorrow - starting today.
Welcome to CREE – an international construction collective for regenerative building solutions. We are dedicated to sustainable and healthy buildings using prefabricated timber-based components and have developed the CREE System: proven, reproducible, and constantly evolving solutions for multi-story timber-hybrid buildings.
With our unique system, our global network of partners builds smartly and sustainably, sharing knowledge and collaborating through the CREE Platform. From Europe to Asia to North America, together, we are revolutionizing the construction industry.

Our Mission
We are on a mission to make our expansive knowledge and resource network available to all forward-thinking minds invested in building a greener future.
We strive to facilitate CREE in as many new buildings as possible to promote a new paradigm in green construction.
Our Vision
The vision to move forward.
The will to work together.
Together, we are building a future defined by knowledge sharing, collaboration, and respect for nature and its resources.
Building a Sustainable
Future Together
With the power of experienced shareholders, Rhomberg Bau, Zech Group and Grupo Casais, CREE is at the forefront of innovation in sustainable construction. The Zech Group joined in 2018, bringing a wealth of expertise that has driven the successful launch of several timber-hybrid projects in Germany and across Europe. In 2023, Grupo Casais deepened its collaboration with CREE by becoming the third shareholder. With a mutual commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship, these partnerships are accelerating the global impact of the CREE Network, empowering us to scale sustainable building practices worldwide. Together, we are building a future that’s stronger, greener, and more resilient.
Our Story
A history of innovation and pioneers
2009
Rhomberg Bau, in cooperation with Wiehag, Architekten Hermann Kaufmann, and Arup, develop a flexible, modular, ready-to-build timber-hybrid construction system for the construction of prefabricated, energy-efficient multi-purpose buildings with up to 20 floors and 100 meters in height.
2010 – 2011
CREE’s expertise is a seamless continuation of the 130 years of experience in the construction industry gained by our parent company Rhomberg Bau. Its success stems from the ingenuity of CREE’s founder and CEO Hubert Rhomberg, an innovative visionary, who rethought the building process in every respect. CREE begins operating in 2011 with the development of LCT ONE.
2012
The LCT ONE is the first structure of its kind. It started as a research project set up by Hubert Rhomberg in 2009 and then led to the founding of CREE to bring this project to life in 2012. LCT ONE in Dornbirn remains an international landmark, welcoming thousands of visitors since, and has been setting new standards in every respect.
2013 – 2015
The Illwerke Zentrum Montafon opens in 2013 and demonstrates the versatility of interior spaces in a CREE building. Shortly after the IZM, in 2014, the Wagner Central Offices opens in Nüziders.
The BTV office building in Memmingen is completed in 2015. This is the first time that CREE’s innovative timber-hybrid construction is used for a building in Germany.
2016 – 2017
CREE starts its transition from a construction to a technology and network provider by the installation of global distribution points for the implementation of the CREE System, partnering with construction companies worldwide. In 2016, CREE enters Singapore, and Denmark in 2017.
2018
The ZECH Group joins as co-owner of CREE to continue driving the growth of timber-hybrid construction. Several successful projects, including the Suedkreuz in Berlin and the Siemens Campus in Erlangen, have been completed since then. In the same year, CREE enters Luxembourg.
2020-2022
CREE expands its reach into 27 countries on 3 continents and its strong network of global partners completes 200.000 m2 of building space in total.
CREE launches the digital platform to foster continuously evolving knowledge and resources within the network. It is not only a space to interact with peers and partners, but also to exchange and refine ideas that will have a visible impact on the built environment and beyond.
2024
The task of transforming an industry is not an easy one, but CREE’s shareholders and local execution partners have shown the rest of the industry the way forward by collaborating on some landmark projects, and openly sharing their lessons learned. With forces united and heading firmly in the same direction, the future is now look brighter than ever.
