Siemens Campus Erlangen – Module 2
The new reception building is the highlight of the second module of the Siemens Campus and the representative face and focal point of Siemens in Erlangen and the metropolitan region. The building picks up the contemporary architecture of the other campus buildings and projects slightly above them with its two-story glazed entrance hall. The facade of the reception building is designed with natural stone from the Altmühl Valley, which already adorns the facade of the Siemens headquarters in Munich.
In addition to the central Siemens reception in the prestigious entrance hall, the new reception building also offers a large conference zone with an auditorium and its own comprehensive range of catering facilities.
The Wings sculpture in front of the “Freyeslebenstraße” entrance stands in front of the reception building. As one of the world’s four Wings sculptures, each ten meters high, by the famous architect and artist Daniel Libeskind, it spans a symbolized “Innovation Bridge” to the locations of the other sculptures: in Munich in front of Siemens Headquarters, in Berlin, the place where Siemens was founded, and in Milan, where the sculptures were first exhibited at EXPO 2015.
For Module 2, the central reception building and the four new office buildings are built using the sustainable and innovative CREE timber-hybrid construction method. As a result, it already avoids up to 80% of CO2 during the construction compared to conventional concrete construction, and during the construction there is less dust, noise, and waste on the construction site. And employees benefit from a pleasant and healthy indoor climate and better humidity that timber provides.
Module 2 of Siemens Campus Erlangen represents one of the greatest scale projects using the CREE timber-hybrid construction method.
